Print copies of readings not online and course books are available in the library on 3 hour short-term loan.
Theses/dissertations?
- Visit the PhD Theses page for a full listing of all theses completed at the Centre for Industrial Relations & Human Resources
- Search the catalogue by author or title for University of Toronto doctoral and masters' theses.
- Search ProQuest Digital Dissertations for theses/dissertations from the University of Toronto as well as many other universities. Fulltext is available online for items from 1997 to the current
An article if the U of T Libraries does not have the journal?
You may request copies of articles from journals which the University of Toronto Libraries do not own through a service called Interlibrary loan.
- First time users must register
- 2. To request a book online:
Step 1 Sign in to RACER- Login = 14 or 16 digit UofT Library barcode
- Password = PIN (usually last 4 digits of student/personnel ID)
- Your library = Toronto
- Click "submit"
- Step 2 Request article
- Under "My account" click on 'Blank Request Form'
- Select "Item Type" journal article
- Complete form & submit request

Cite my sources?
Making sure you acknowledge your use of other authors' works is an important part of academic research. There are several main style manuals used depending on whether you are in the humanities, social science, or sciences. Look these titles up in the catalogue to see which University of Toronto Library has a copy. Use RefWorks?
RefWorks is a free bibliographic and database manager. You can add your references from any online database, the catalogue, or by inputting them manually. For a tutorial on how to use this database, try the one offered on the RefWorks website (you will have to register first) or the one designed by Gerstein Science Information Centre.
